Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Nangou of Neilengele River, a right-side branch of Jifuke River in upper reaches of Dujing River, southeast of the Jinghe County, Xinjiang. Coordinate of the type section: 82°53′35″E, 44°06′25″N. It was named by the Joint Stratigraphical Team between the Xinjiang Brigade of Regional Geological Survey and the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences in 1974, and published by the Compiling Group of the Regional Stratigraphical Scale, Xinjiang Uygur Zizhiqu in 1981.
Synonym: (博罗霍洛山组)
Reference Section:
The reference section is at the roadside, 4 km south of Xin’ertai, Huocheng County, Xinjiang.
Lithology and Thickness
It consists of purple and a few grayish green interbeds of massive sandstone and siltstone in rhythmic flysch succession. The formation varies from 1000-1500 m in thickness in general.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is conformable onto the underlying Kurul Fm (Kuruer Fm).
Upper contact
The top of the succession is not exposed.
Regional extent
The formation is distributed in western part of the Central Tianshan Mts, in the Nilekedaban area at the south of the Jinghe County, and in the Guozigou area of Hecheng County.

Fossils
The fossils are rarely found except a few corals Favosites in the limestone lenses and some fragments of brachiopods, stromatoporoids and trilobites.
